Minim's ongoing partnership with Spiegelberg

Founded in 1986 by engineer Dr Andreas Spiegelberg, the company pioneered accurate, drift-free intracranial pressure monitoring which has remained a gold-standard ever since.  Spiegelberg is a small, independent company with a family feel despite Dr Spiegelberg’s retirement from the business in recent years. Their products are robust, affordable and above all, useful!

The ICP system uses a tried and tested ‘air-pouch’ to detect minute pressure changes in the tissue of the brain which are transmitted along a catheter to a precision sensor in the bedside monitor. The system recalibrates once an hour to ensure that the reading is always referenced back to atmospheric pressure and cumulative longer term errors do not creep in to the readings. Despite being over 30 years old, this technology is still highly relevant as accuracy when logging intracranial pressure measurements is essential, especially trend data. Trusting the readings shown is critical as decisions over therapy and treatment protocols can be based on carefully calculated thresholds.
